The Gameboy has gone through many makeovers, evolving into such versions as Gameboy Color, Gameboy Light and Gameboy Advance. The reason for the success of the Gameboy is the quality of its games and the significant improvements from version to version.

The Gameboy got a makeover after the initial model, boasting a longer battery life, along with a bigger software library with many popular games that are still going strong today. In addition, the Gameboy handheld portables were also relatively cheaper than its competition, providing customers with a quality product that’s affordable. This helped the Gameboy win over its rivals, like the Sega Game Gear, even if the Sega Game Gear was displayed in full color and had a relatively larger screen than the Gameboy. The Gameboy simply was more fun to play for kids, teens, and adults, making the handheld portable last for so long.

Nintendo supported the Gameboy with increasingly exceptional software year after year, helping to constantly refine the reputation of the Gameboy. Arguably the most popular of the video games on Gameboy is theLegend of Zelda. Four years after its birth, the Gameboy was finally in color in 1996, and the Pokemon series started as well. The Pokemon series made perfect use of the system’s link-up cable, improving on multiplayer gaming and content sharing, setting the bar higher. This concept of sharing and having amulti-playeroption grew into a gaming normative that’s used today.

Let’s take a look back, before we take a look forward at the latest Nintendo product.

Gameboy (1989)

This gray brick-like handheld portable gaming system, now iconically known as the Gameboy, boosted the reputation of Nintendo. The Gameboy’s small grayscale screen was powered by AA batteries that went the distance in duration of play. The Gameboy became the best-selling handheld of all time. There have been quite a few updates for the Gameboy, like Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance, before Nintendo took it to the next level with higher technology.

The Gameboy color was accompanied by one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises: the Pokemon series.

Wii U (2012)

The Wii U is being released, as it has been in development for three years. The Wii U gives the Wii a portable handheld component that looks like a relative of the Gameboy. This second screen serves as a tablet device with the trademark Gameboy d-pad and buttons. With this new product, Nintendo is looking to once again surpass all other game-makers in sales.

The Gameboy was the start, and now we have the Wii U. The Nintendo team is making absolutely sure that the Wii U has a healthy launch line-up. Nintendo can only hope that the Wii U can continue the success of its products, as it started way back when with the Gameboy and NES.

Most of the time if you see someone with a Gameboy, the person is more than likely playing one of Nintendo’s many classic games. If you’re Max Dolensky, the Gameboy is more than a tool for nostalgic video games. Dolensky actually uses his Gameboy to make music.

Dolensky is a sophomore in college, majoring in management information systems, and he started young making music in general. The road to using the Gameboy as a medium for music started with his passion for music. His interests in the Gameboy and his music eventually met in an interesting way, making him a unique individual.

“I first got into electronic music when I was in middle school – I was really keen on playing NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and Sega games that I never had as a young child, and it coincided with my interest in band,” Dolensky said. “From there, I got into electronic remixes, then the process of repurposing the actual game consoles to create new music.”

Users can purchase software called Little Sound DJ for their Gameboy, allowing them to make music on the Gameboy handheld gaming system. Dolensky is part of Chipmusic, a place to create music with vintage gaming systems like Gameboy.

To Dolensky, the Gameboy is a musical instrument of choice. He has made the Gameboy not only a system of entertainment, but a tool to create art. So the next time you see your Gameboy lying around, know that it can be more than what you think.

Nintendo is one of the best designers and makers of widely known electronic gadgets. One of their products is the Wii Gamepad. Nintendo has skilled engineers dedicated in making each product accessible and playable without experiencing any difficulties. They are considered as experts in providing technical support for any technology-related issues and the latest trends in the world of gadgets as well.

What are the Designs Made by Nintendo Engineers?

Nintendo engineers were being challenged to enhance the new Wii GamePad Tablet controller. Consumers want to have a screen in their controller which provides both image and video from the console. However, this challenge is somewhat difficult because of the lag or latency. According to engineer Kuniato Ito, it can only be done by having a system that is capable of sending image data in an unzipped and wireless method. In addition, the company’s product developer known as engineer Kenichi Mae added that the large data can decrease the tendency of latency. He provided good examples of solutions regarding electrical issues emphasizing the small amount of memory being consumed.

Reviews by Other Expert

Nintendo engineers have efficient skills when it comes to designing a high tech gadget system. Their works are being reviewed by the creator of Rayman known in Ubisoft as Michael Ancel. According to this expert, Nintendo engineers reduced the game lag or latency of GamePad into 0.017 seconds. He assures that most of the time, gamers will never notice it.

Technology has been leaning towards portable and miniature for a while, and battery life is always an inevitable problem down the road. From the Gameboy Advance handheld to the PSP, battery life becomes an issue. This is especially an issue for handheld gaming devices like the ever-popular Gameboy variations, as they lose duration of gameplay between charges.

It’s not only happening with handhelds like the Gameboy Advance or the DS, it has become an issue for the wireless controllers for the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. Portable is thought to be more convenient, but the battery life issue is what gets in the way.

The monochromatic Gameboy, the Gameboy color, the Gameboy Advance, the DS and the 3DS were all tested for battery life. The result of all the Gameboy variations was ultimately inconclusive, but what was interesting in the test was how long the older portable handhelds lasted. At the end, the original monochromatic Gameboy lasted quite a while on just a single set of AA batteries.

Nintendo has come out with a new version of the Gameboy, dubbed the Gameboy Micro. The Gameboy Micro is the smallest version of the Gameboy yet, even smaller and lighter than the I-Phone 5. A new test should be conducted with the inclusion of the latest Gameboy Micro. Of course, all the Gameboy handhelds should be brand new, playing at least a similar type of game with the same amount of charge all around, in order to make the experiment as fair as possible.

Andy Robertson who is a gamer and his son is walking past a second hand store when the boy spotted the Game Boy Micro. The handheld console was released way back in 2005 but he thought that it was an upgrade to the 3DS, wanting to have it one day.

He did household chores and just a little more than a month, he already accumulated the money to have the handheld console. It is surprising that even though he already realized that it was not a 3DS upgrade; the boy is still determined to have the handheld console.

The boy is very happy when the store assistant gave him the Super Mario Advance 2 and the WarioWare Twisted! The boy said that these games only prove that the device is latest because it is too good on the DS.

He also told his brother and classmates to include the same device in their Christmas wish list this year. If the sales of 3DS will not increase this year, you already know the reason. Even though the boy thinks that an old game device is the latest release in the market but it’s not, the bottom line here is it gives him happiness and entertainment. All of us have been there so at the end of the day, admit it or not, it made you smile. Games are games, whatever its system is, for as long as the child finds it entertaining, they’ll settle for it.

He thought that it was a new gaming product released by Nintendo. It happened when he spotted a micro in the nearby shopping store. In fact, his son was actually amazed by what he saw. According to Andy, he knew that the micro is one of the most expensive consoles available because the store features it in their displays.
His son’s tales about the micro bothered them, motivating Andy and his wife to buy it using the money they recently earned. The child was fascinated with the beauty of his new micro. Besides, it is currently in the mainstream of 3DS. Enjoyment and satisfaction were felt by the child even at school. He even tried to convince his classmates how latest his micro is.
The tales of the little boy were cute enough and touching to anyone’s heart, especially, those who have experienced being hooked with game boys and video games during childhood. This story is the best example of gaming stories that will make us laugh. It is also amazing to think how this boy managed to create thoughts such as those. In addition, game boy and other gadget nowadays are the source of satisfaction and entertainment for both children and adults, especially, those who are basically a fan of the rampant games in the society.

Blizzard planned to have a version series for Game Boy color. It will be called Diablo Junior wherein players can swap items just like in the Pokémon series. David Craddock, Blizzard biographer, told Shack News that the game was created for single player that precede the original game. They are planning to release 3 cartridges. Each of it has different hero in the warrior rogue sorcerer vein and items that they can trade in order for them to collect.

The development of the game was limited to few staffs only. They are the ones working with Diablo Junior after the release of Diablo 2. Versions may hit Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color or both. Craddock said that the heroes will start in a unique city before going to the wilderness zones and dungeons. Diablo Junior was put out to pasture because of the production costs related in developing handheld games. He is now doing his research about Stay Awhile and Listen. It is an unauthorized Blizzard history according to the statements of more than 80 ex-employees.

Another information is about the expansion of Diablo 2 which was never released. A follow-up to the Lord of Destructions, unnamed, could have added guildhalls for clan meetings of multiplayer. Two character classes were also taken into consideration.

With the advance technology that we have right now, lots of features can be added in these games making it almost closer to reality. These games are very addictive which only means that the makers of it are very effective.

Because of this, Blizzard, which is one of the best successful franchises of games, allowed Diablo to be played on the Gameboy and other Nintendo’s gadgets.

In addition, the group of developers was divided into different teams to cater to the Diablo II’s release in the market. The first team will be the workers for the expansions of the “Lord of Destruction” while the second team is going to engage in brainstorming wherein ideas are going to be discussed. However, the most important function will be on the third team. This team will make and propose the game in different markets.

After the planned release of Diablo II, the game Diablo Junior will also be released for Game Boy Advance and other Nintendo’s gadgets. While doing this, some of the groups will begin to inquire about the market share and other businesses that are interested in adopting the game.

The game Diablo Junior was designed for a single player only; however, through their discussions and recommendations, they managed to find some solutions for it. Diablo II and other games are now considered as a new mainstream in the gaming world. It is expected that teenagers and game fanatics will support it. Moreover, with this kind of game, Gameboy can become the main source of entertainment, especially for gamers.
