Pokemon Red Rescue
Pokemon has been around for quite a long time now, people who haven’t seen the series or played the game still wonder why this particular character is so famous. Well, this review is for those who do not know and also for those who want to know about this game of Pokemon of Gameboy advance.
This game was based on the long running series of the Mysterious Dungeon games by Chunsoft.The titled game Red Rescue Force for the GBA is an adventure game with semi turn based exploration of dungeons featuring characters from the Pokemon universe, developed by Chunsoft and published by Nintendo. Being released on November 10, 2006 in Europe, November 17, 2005 in Japan and September 18, 2006 in United States, the game was a huge hit.
This game starts off with an exciting dramatic story that pulls you in and involves you in the game completely. The choice of various moves just adds a whole lot of versatility to this game, as they help in the missions being carried out in the game. Not just that but the use of strategic battles enhance the adventure as you explore deep dungeons and towering mountains.
So how does the game work? Well, before you even begin the actual game you are given a personality test to complete, this is to determine which Pokemon you will be in the game. Right after you begin you meet your partner/best friend in the game. Following the introductions a Pokemon comes to you requesting help for her child that fell trough a gap in the earth caused by natural disasters. You are to go help the child and return them to their mother. The mother rewards you, thanks you and she is on her way. Then your partner takes you to a place where you can live, after settling in your partner says that he/she has been thinking about starting a rescue team to help Pokemon in need and asks if you want to join.
The next day after you accept to the invitation you go outside and find out that your friend came looking for you but fell asleep at your door, you scare them! (pretty fun) after the friend is completely awake he/she checks the mail and finds your rescue team starter kit. From there you are introduced to the Pokemon square, a place where there are stores that can help you with your team such as a bank, storage, a link shop where you can link moves into one and more!
Not just that but in this game you can also recruit Pokemon in situations where for example a client from a rescue request wants to show it’s gratitude to you by joining your rescue team! or you can also recruit Pokemon as you explore a dungeon(ex. you fight a foe and it decides that it wants to join you), remember that you can always say no if you don’t want to recruit that Pokemon as well.
As you are exploring dungeons, your foes cannot walk until you do, which gives you a chance to avoid a foe. as you fight in battle with a foe, again they cannot make a move until you do, there is a list of four attacks from which you can choose or can press the A button and simply shove into your foe which inflicts damage. You also find items some in a specific location, and some you can only get by answering a rescue request, there are all sorts of items in this game such as the Oran berry(restores HP), Warp orb(moves everyone in a room to somewhere on the floor), blast seed(trow it at your foes to inflict damage!) and many many more!! these items are all very helpful, some even help you gain the chance to fight a rare Pokemon! in every dungeon there are a number of floors where you have to find a set of stairs to continue.
One thing that people have sort of a hard time with is keeping their health up, i suggest you bring plenty of Oran berries or reviver seeds to stay alive! there are berries for different status problems(pecha berry-cures poison).
As you answer more and more rescue requests little by little, the storyline comes along, you are to fulfill your destiny as a Pokemon! I would rate it a 4.8 because the game is great in many ways despite the flaws. If you are a fan of Pokemon and wonder what your life would be as a Pokemon then this game will take some of that wonder off your mind while having a great time playing it!
