Games of the Future
Game Boy may have been Nintendo’s past but the Nintendo DS is definitely it’s future. It has been nearly 8 years since Nintendo came out with the first Nintendo DS in 2004. Now with the advancement in technology, Nintendo is able to harness the 3D feature into its latest portable gaming console, the Nintendo 3DS, and still make it affordable at $169.99!
With the potential of more games getting on the 3D bandwagon, there will be a lot to look forward to in the years to come. For now, let’s see the coolest games to ever hit the Nintendo DS series.
1) Guitar Hero: On Tour – Guitar Hero is probably by far the coolest thing that ever happened to a gaming console but having it on the go takes the cake! However, it might seem a little farfetched at first and skepticism is expected but Nintendo outdid themselves with this game with minor hiccups.
2) Kirby Canvas Curse – This is probably one of the few influential games that got people to think that you don’t need operation buttons or directional pads to play a great game. I am also being bold here when I say that the success of the iPad and iPhone game applications probably owe it to the Nintendo DS platform.
3) Nintendogs – This is a game that evolved from theconcept of Tamagotchi although they have added more features to it like entering your pet dog in a competition. It’s definitely a major buy for parents who are thinking to “test” their children before getting them a real pet. Graphics is definitely a whole lot better than your Tamagotchi key chains and at least they look like real animals as opposed to your old Tamagotchi.
4) Tetris – You shouldn’t be surprised that this game is on the list. This game has been around for over 20 years and it still never gets old. The old and new players alike are finding themselves hooked trying to align bricks and blocks to form lines. It’s a simple concept but definitely addictive.
5) Picross DS – An original creation from the people of Nintendo in an answer to the ever popular Sudoku. This game’s goal is simply to uncover hidden images through a series of puzzles. The best part is, you can download extra puzzles to work on through Nintendo Wi-Fi servers for FREE!
6) New Super Mario Bros – Instead of the typical fire spits and jumps, the newest Mario game allows you to destroy terrains, defeat giant enemies and conquer obstacles. Think Godzilla, only not as ugly. Giant Mario is sure to wreck havoc on your social skills.
7) Grand Theft Auto: China Wars – With decent enough graphics, this game is authentic Grand Theft Auto experience on the go.
8) Mario Kart DS – Enjoy beating your friend through the Wi-Fi connection. This thoroughly interactive game is much appreciated for this simplicity and encourages friendly competition among comrades.
9) Trauma Center: Under the Knife – Ever dreamed of becoming a world-class trauma surgeon? Utilizing the stylus and touchscreen ofthe Nintendo DS, you perform “actual” trauma surgeries and perhaps finally fulfill a dream of yours and maybe opt for a career change.
10) Contra 4 – It might be due to nostalgia that it’s on the list but you don’t just forget, “Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A start” just like that. It definitely lives up to the memory with so much more on the side. This is definitely a keeper.
